2019-2020 Application
The Delaware Department of Education and the University of Delaware’s Professional Development Center for Educators are excited to offer an opportunity for a select group of secondary English teachers to participate in a partnership to create CCSS-aligned, writing mini-units that model evidence based practices in secondary writing instruction. These mini-units will focus on the development of criticism/analysis writing skills. This project is an extension of the National Writing Project and as such, adheres to its Core Principles.
Participants will be placed in a team of 3-4 to draft a writing mini-unit using their district/charter provided instructional materials. Teams will be provided with coaching support. Each educator will be paid a stipend of $1000 and be required to participate in 4 full-day sessions, online collaboration with colleagues from around the state, pilot the mini-unit, and present the mini-unit to the Delaware Literacy Cadre/Coalition.
